What to eat after weight loss surgery
After the weight loss surgery one should be very cautious and careful in his/her food style. Do not eat for one to two days after the surgery. The first three months after the surgery is called “Diet Progression Period”. During this period it is better to have liquid and semi-liquid food. The liquid food can includes broth, juice, milk and cooked cereals. During this period one can have six small meals a day and gradually get into the regular food which is three meals a day. Protein-rich foods, such as lean meat, yogurt and eggs should be included in the meals. Chew the food slowly and thoroughly. Eating too fast leads to vomiting, Stomach pain, fainting and diarrhea. The size of the meals should be not more than one cup. Avoid taking both solid and fluid foods at the same time. The time between the solid and fluid foods intake should be thirty minutes. After completing the diet progression period (i.e.) after three months, one can get back to the regular food. It is always better to stay away from the foods which produce more calories with few nutrients. Drinking water frequently keeps you healthy and energetic after the weight loss surgery. Do not forget to take the medicine prescribed by the doctor. Take vitamins and exercise regularly. It is better to suggest a dietitian to make a new diet plan after the weight loss surgery.
