Get Ready to For the New Year New You: Review your Skincare Routine Now

In the countdown for Christmas we get caught up with the gift buying, food preparation and general commercial madness associated with a modern holiday period, but try and spend a few moments over the coming weeks to think a little ahead to the New Year.  As the old year fades out, it offers the opportunity to remove all of the bad habits that have formed during the preceding 12 months, and offers the chance to make a better impact on the year to come.  These resolutions are usually made in a hasty fashion over a 3rd or 4th glass of wine on New Year’s Eve just seconds before Big Ben chimes in the arrival of the New Year.  Under such circumstances is it any wonder that most New Year resolutions are doomed to failure?

Your skin is worthy of your attention, and you are also worthy of the little bit of preparation time that it will take you to review your current skincare programme.  What products do you use?  How often do you use them?  When was the last time that you had your skin assessed by a professional?  Are you still using the same products now as you did 5, 10, 20 years ago?  Do you even have a daily skincare routine?  If you have had a recent session with one of the “at-the-counter” store professionals who are there to try and get you on their list of customers, and you either bought products recommended by them for your skin type (or similar ones in a different brand!), and you have some kind of daily routine that you carry out without fail morning and night, then you can move on to some other area of your life that could perhaps do with some New Year’s resolution tweaking.

If however you can’t remember when, if ever, your skin was assessed, and you slick on whatever’s to hand after scrubbing the day’s grime off, then make your skincare routine a priority.  Make the trip to the department store and get the assessment – they don’t usually charge and it takes minutes!   Then once you know what kind of products you should use, and how often, buy these in readiness for the end of the year.

Being prepared means that once midnight rings out across the country, and you start thinking of going to bed, you already have the products at hand to start the year as you mean to go on, by properly cleaning, toning and moisturizing your skin before you go to sleep.
